Full job description
Voleon is a technology company that applies state-of-the-art AI and machine learning techniques to real-world problems in finance. For nearly two decades, we have led our industry and worked at the frontier of applying AI/ML to investment management. We have become a multibillion-dollar asset manager, and we have ambitious goals for the future.
Your colleagues will include internationally recognized experts in artificial intelligence and machine learning research as well as highly experienced finance and technology professionals. In addition to our enriching and collegial working environment, we offer highly competitive compensation and benefits packages, technology talks by our experts, a beautiful modern office, daily catered lunches, and more.
Your Team
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Software Platform team, you will design and evolve the distributed systems that power research and trading workflows across on-premises and cloud environments. The team owns core distributed services, cloud platforms, job scheduling and execution systems, and standardized storage interfaces — delivering reliable, scalable services that abstract away infrastructure complexity.
Operating at the heart of the firm’s platform, this is a high-impact area: the systems you build directly shape the reliability, performance, and scalability of research and production workloads across the organization.
You will partner closely with Infrastructure, Security, application engineering teams, and ML researchers to deliver foundational platform capabilities that improve reliability, performance, and productivity firm-wide — enabling engineers and researchers to focus on domain-specific innovation. This role operates at the platform services layer (not bare-metal infrastructure) and emphasizes distributed systems design, strong abstractions, and operational excellence.
We look for engineers who are motivated by solving complex problems through strong fundamentals and thoughtful system design. You’ll work in a highly collaborative environment that values experimentation, clear ownership, and efficient execution. Our team includes experienced engineers from leading technology companies and top academic programs, working closely with infrastructure specialists and machine learning researchers to build resilient, high-leverage systems that power the firm.
