ABOUT US:
Skip is on a mission to make life joyful through powered movement.
Movement is a powerful way to build physical, mental and social health. Yet it is elusive for 2 billion people due to age, injury, or disability. We are building products that will restore mobility for millions and enable a new frontier of joyful movement experiences. We want to build a future where a grandparent can easily outrun their grandkids and no one is left behind at the trailhead.
Skip is a 28-person early-stage start-up that spun out of Google X in 2023. With deep cross-disciplinary expertise and key partnerships (e.g. with Arc’teryx) we are uniquely positioned to launch the first commercially successful wearable robotic device, the MO/GO, develop a platform to launch future Movewear products and transform millions of lives in the coming years.
The Role
We are seeking a highly organized, people first operator to be the person who keeps Skip running. You will own our Dogpatch office and partner with our Founding Recruiter to run a candidate experience that’s as good as the product we’re building. One day you’re coordinating a five person onsite panel. The next you’re receiving a pallet of actuators and onboarding two new engineers. If something falls through the cracks at Skip, you’re the one who notices first, and then you build a system so it doesn’t happen again.
What you’ll do
Own day to day office operations: vendors, facilities, supplies, snacks, deliveries, mail, security, and keeping a shared space for engineers, a machine shop, and a soft goods lab working for everyone
Schedule and coordinate onsite interviews, candidate travel and logistics
Be the first and last impression for every visitor to the office, including candidates: greet onsites, keep communication fast and warm, and make sure no one is ever left waiting on an update
Run new hire onboarding and offboarding, including equipment, accounts, and first day setup
Support people ops infrastructure, including HRIS (Rippling), benefits administration, employee records, and California compliance basics
Plan team events, offsites, all hands, and the occasional celebration when a prototype does something it wasn’t supposed to be able to do yet
Provide scheduling and administrative support to our founders as needed
Use AI tools to automate the repetitive parts of the job so you can spend your time on people
What we’re looking for
Someone who can increase joy in our space, and reduce friction for the team
2 to 5 years in office management, recruiting coordination, people operations, or executive support, ideally at a startup
Exceptional organization and follow through; you manage a dozen moving pieces and nothing gets dropped
Warm, clear, and professional communication with candidates, vendors, and teammates alike
Literate with software tools and able to quickly learn how to use ATS and HRIS tools (Ashby, Google Workspace, or similar)
Sound judgment with confidential information
Low ego, high ownership; no task is too small, and you’d rather fix the process than complain about it
Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities in an early stage environment
Nice to have
Experience supporting hardware, robotics, or manufacturing teams in a shared office and lab space
Familiarity with California employment requirements and benefits administration
Experience planning events or managing a facility buildout or move
You build with AI tools day to day and can show us a workflow you automated
