Health & Safety Program Manager

Based in our Dublin, Ireland office and reporting directly to the Director of Global Security & Safety, the Global Health & Safety Manager will own the design, execution, governance, and continuous enhancement of Okta’s global health, safety, and occupational wellness framework.

While anchored in Dublin, this is a broad, truly global leadership role. Because Okta operates dynamic, distributed workplaces across multiple international jurisdictions, the Global Health & Safety Manager will scale operations by directing an extensive network of specialized third-party vendors, global EHS consultants, and local practitioners. In addition to overarching workplace safety, this leader serves as the global program owner for Okta’s Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Injury/Illness Claims Management.

Key Responsibilities

1. 3rd-Party Vendor Management & Global Partner Ecosystem

• Serve as the principal manager and strategic owner of Okta’s global health and safety vendor ecosystem, including multinational EHS environmental/safety consulting firms, localized safety practitioners, and specialized service partners.
• Develop Statements of Work (SOWs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and service level agreements (SLAs) for external EHS partners supporting regional risk assessments, statutory testing, and compliance filings.
• Manage vendor procurement, contract evaluations, invoicing, and quarterly business reviews (QBRs) to ensure cost-efficiency, technical rigor, and consistent service delivery across all global locations.
• Direct external partners in conducting localized site inspections, air quality monitoring, industrial hygiene assessments, and acoustic/lighting studies.

2. Global Workers' Compensation & Claims Management

• Serve as the single point of contact and global program manager for Okta’s Workers’ Compensation, Employers' Liability, and occupational injury/illness programs across all global jurisdictions.
• Collaborate closely with People Operations (HR), Risk Management/Treasury, legal counsel, insurance brokers, and Third-Party Claims Administrators (TPAs) to oversee claim lifecycles, reserve tracking, and settlements.
• Implement and manage a global Return-to-Work (RTW) and modified-duty framework to support injured or ill employees and safely reduce lost time.
• Conduct regular claims audits, review carrier loss-run reports, identify global workplace injury trends, and execute root-cause mitigation programs.
• Ensure regulatory reporting compliance across regions (e.g., Irish Health and Safety Authority [HSA] statutory notifications, US OSHA 300 logs, and relevant EMEA/APAC incident reporting requirements).

3. Global Health & Safety Governance & Statutory Compliance

• Formulate, maintain, and enforce Okta’s global Health & Safety standard operating procedures (SOPs), workplace safety manuals, and corporate safety policies across all regional hubs.
• Monitor multi-jurisdictional compliance across all regions (e.g., Irish Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, EU Workplace Directives, UK HSE regulations, US OSHA standards, and APAC regional health codes), leveraging specialized regional legal and consulting partners where necessary.
• Oversee site-level risk assessments (General Risk Assessments, Fire Risk Assessments, Display Screen Equipment/DSE assessments) and track all corrective actions to closure.
• Act as Okta’s primary liaison for statutory safety authorities, labor inspectorates, municipal fire services, and external compliance auditors worldwide.

4. Global Ergonomics & Preventive Wellness

• Direct Okta’s Global Ergonomics Program across both physical corporate offices and our distributed, remote-first workforce.
• Partner with external ergonomic evaluation platforms, specialized ergonomic physical therapists/evaluators, and internal workplace experience teams to review complex cases and reasonable accommodation requests.
• Oversee the ergonomic evaluation workflow, self-assessment software adoption, and equipment reimbursement guidelines in alignment with corporate policy and regional procurement structures.

5. Emergency Preparedness, GSOC Coordination & Safety Culture

• Lead incident investigation workflows for global safety incidents, significant near-misses, and occupational health concerns; determine root causes and institute corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Partner with Okta's Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), Physical Security, and Workplace Experience teams to ensure rapid incident escalation and crisis coordination.
• Standardize life safety programs globally, including local Emergency Wardens, First Aiders, evacuation drills, automated external defibrillator (AED) maintenance, and emergency supply readiness.
• Define, track, and report on global safety metrics (such as Lost Time Injury Frequency Rates [LTIFR], Total Recordable Incident Rates [TRIR], ergonomics SLA closures, and vendor performance).

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

• Experience: 6+ years of progressive professional experience leading environmental health, safety, and occupational wellness programs within multinational enterprise or fast-paced technology environments.
• Global Scope: Demonstrated experience managing health and safety programs across multi-site global portfolios spanning EMEA, the Americas, and APAC.
• Vendor & Partner Management: Proven track record of managing global EHS third-party vendors, specialized consulting firms, and outsourced safety service providers to scale global coverage.
• Workers' Compensation & Claims: Strong, direct experience managing global or multi-regional workers' compensation programs, employer liability claims, TPAs, and structured Return-to-Work (RTW) processes.
• Regulatory Acumen: Solid understanding of Irish Health and Safety Authority (HSA) statutory requirements and EU Health & Safety Directives, paired with the capability to oversee international compliance frameworks (e.g., US OSHA).
• Certifications & Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Risk Management, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Recognized professional health and safety certification (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma/Certificate, GradIOSH / CMIOSH, CSP, or recognized equivalent).
• Collaboration & Influence: Proven ability to partner effectively across People/HR, Workplace/Real Estate, Physical Security/GSOC, Legal, and executive leadership.

Preferred:

• Experience designing and scaling remote/hybrid ergonomic programs and digital ergonomics assessment platforms.
• Experience integrating health and safety workflows with 24/7 Global Security Operations Centers (GSOC) and enterprise crisis management platforms.
• Experience managing casualty insurance broker reviews and global risk management underwriting surveys.

Location & Working Arrangement

• Primary Office: Dublin, Ireland.
• Work Model: Hybrid (combining scheduled on-site collaboration at our Dublin office with remote flexibility, while accommodating global time zone collaboration across EMEA, AMER, and APAC).
• Travel: Occasional international and regional travel (approx. 10–15%) to regional hubs, major global offices, and partner sites as operational needs dictate.
