Company Description

We’re Checkout.com. You might not know our name, but companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony do, because we’re behind many of the digital experiences you use every day.

We are where the world checks out, enabling over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion global shoppers.

Whether you want to book a holiday, order food, renew a subscription, or check out online, there’s a good chance our tech powers the payments behind the scenes. Our platform helps the most ambitious businesses deliver effortless digital experiences, at scale.

If you want to do career-defining work, you’ve come to the right place. We move fast, think globally, and believe great teams are built by hiring exceptional people with conviction, curiosity, and the desire to make an impact.

With 20 offices across six continents and London as our HQ, we’re shaping the future of fintech – and we’re just getting started.

The Mission:

Payments are the infrastructure behind how modern businesses grow. As a Senior Specialist Account Management, you’ll own a focused portfolio of direct enterprise merchants across the UK. You’ll be the trusted advisor and main point of contact for important accounts, bringing together payments expertise, commercial judgement and a clear understanding of each merchant’s business to strategically help them grow.

This is a post-sales growth role. You’ll protect and deepen existing relationships while identifying where Checkout.com can create more value through product adoption, payment performance, commercial insight and better payments strategies. You’ll have the autonomy to shape the direction of your accounts and the influence to bring the right people across Checkout.com together to make progress.

This role is for someone who enjoys being close to the customer, is comfortable with numbers and pricing, and is motivated by turning complex payment challenges into practical outcomes.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Cultivate deep, consultative partnerships across a dedicated portfolio of around 7 to 10 key tier 2/3 UK digital enterprise clients, acting as their primary advisor for navigating intricate payment landscapes.

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of every merchant's strategic priorities, business model and revenue streams to craft targeted account growth strategies.

  • Drive post-sales expansion by proactively identifying cross-sell and upsell avenues across our suite of products, value-add solutions and ecosystem partners.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in payments, guiding merchants to optimise transaction performance and construct forward looking payment strategies across target markets.

  • Leverage robust data, commercial forecasting and analytical models to evaluate payment performance, mitigate risks and uncover high impact growth initiatives.

  • Maintain accurate account roadmaps, revenue projections and operational progress within CRM systems to ensure complete internal transparency.

  • Lead strategic commercial discussions and pricing negotiations that balance merchant value creation with sustainable top line profitability for Checkout.com.

  • Orchestrate cross functional initiatives by collaborating closely with Product, Sales, Integration, Solutions Engineering, Support, Risk and Legal to ensure flawless execution.

  • Champion the voice of the merchant internally, ensuring customer insights directly inform team decision making and platform priorities.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated 3+ years experience in B2B Account Management, Relationship Management or similar commercial role, ideally within the financial technology or payment processing landscape.

  • Proven success in expanding and safeguarding high-value enterprise partnerships while delivering measurable top-line results.

  • Exceptional capability to engage senior executives and align multi-layered decision making groups.

  • Sharp commercial acumen with strong capability in analysing margin drivers, leading pricing conversations and unlocking strategic merchant value.

  • Strong data driven mindset, comfortable manipulating quantitative metrics to extract key insights and translate findings into high impact strategies.

  • Innate intellectual curiosity regarding payment mechanics and a rapid learning curve: deep payments industry domain knowledge is advantageous alongside a drive to build credibility.

  • Adapt at prioritising strategic initiatives across multi account portfolios, mitigating operational risks and driving critical workflows forward.

  • Versatile communication skills with the capacity to persuade and lead cross-functionally without relying on formal authority.

  • Highly collaborative and accountable mindset, taking complete ownership to unite internal stakeholders around successful outcomes.

What makes this role different

  • Scale at pace with an expanding leader: Checkout.com processed well over $300B in total payment volume last year, expanding rapidly from $183B in 2024.

  • Partner alongside iconic global digital brands and direct digital enterprise merchants to navigate intricate payment landscapes across the UK and international markets.

  • Maximise your commercial impact through an attractive total reward structure featuring a competitive base salary, balanced incentive split, strong uncapped commission upside.

  • Thrive within a high-performance team culture that emphasises complete ownership, rapid continuous learning and measurable value creation.

You’ll join a team that takes a practical, customer-first approach to account growth. We care about the quality of the relationships we build, the rigour behind our recommendations and our ability to follow through and move with pace. We challenge assumptions, share knowledge and work across boundaries to solve problems for our merchants.
