Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) offers a wide variety of opportunities to college students across the country. Unpaid research, communications, and government affairs internships are available on a year-round basis and can vary in length from a semester to a few weeks in duration. Interns can choose to work part-time or full-time, as hours of work are extremely flexible. Our daily work with Capitol Hill and the White House, as well as government agencies and other nonprofit organizations, provides a close and invaluable look at how Washington works. Many projects involve working closely with staff members, while others require a great deal of independence. Interns are considered important members of our staff and actively participate in staff meetings and other events. While interns will also be required to perform clerical duties from time to time, much of the work will be substantive.
Legislative Internship
Assist CAGW’s policy staff with various aspects of the legislative process, including monitoring hearings; summarizing essential testimony and votes taken during committee meetings; tracking legislation, regulations, and political activities concerning government waste issues; and researching and developing legislative summaries, and attending various coalition meetings with other organizations.
