About the role
Ohme Group is rapidly expanding our participation in the energy sector through our EV charging points. We’re now expanding our activities to deliver flexibility for external partners, helping them unlock value from connected energy assets.
We’re hiring an experienced Business Development Manager to join our growing energy and flexibility team, building our customer base and commercial capabilities from the ground up. Working closely with our trading and technical experts, you’ll take ownership of identifying, developing and closing strategic partnerships.
You’ll join at a time when you can play an early role in building a world-leading energy flexibility business.
What you’ll do
- Identify and prioritise partners, including charge point operators (CPOs), automotive OEMs, public charging networks, fleet operators, battery owners and other low-carbon technology asset owners.
- Build and own your pipeline, developing new relationships and expanding opportunities with existing partners.
- Lead commercial conversations from initial outreach through to negotiation and signed agreements, bringing in our trading and technical experts where needed.
- Create compelling propositions and business cases that demonstrate how Ohme can unlock value from partners’ assets through flexibility and optimisation.
- Identify new commercial opportunities across flexibility, smart charging and connected energy assets.
- Manage multiple complex opportunities, engage senior decision-makers and grow signed partnerships over time.
What you’ll bring
- Typically 5+ years’ experience in business development or commercial partnerships, with a proven track record of independently originating, negotiating and closing complex commercial agreements.
- Direct commercial experience in one or more relevant sectors, such as EV charging, battery storage, fleet electrification, distributed energy or demand-side flexibility, is essential.
- An established network within at least one of these sectors, with the credibility to engage senior decision-makers and open doors.
- An understanding of how connected energy assets can create value through flexibility, optimisation or participation in energy markets.
- The ability to navigate a complex, evolving market, understand partners’ technical and commercial requirements, and translate these into clear propositions and credible business cases.
- Confidence leading detailed commercial discussions with senior stakeholders, drawing on internal specialists to develop solutions and progress agreements.
- A proactive, independent approach: comfortable building a pipeline and shaping opportunities in a growing business where processes and propositions are still developing.
- A collaborative mindset, working closely with our leadership, trading and technical teams to build an effective commercial offering.
Benefits
You’ll get to work in a fast-paced and rapidly growing scale-up with global ambitions that is cutting edge, passionate about sustainability and seeks to make the world a better place.
