A little about the role

As Project Manager, you will manage the start-up, initiation and day-to-day management and governance of corporate projects and initiatives across the organisation but initially focused on supporting Capricorn’s Communications and Engagement team. The role supports tactical priorities and the Powering Forward 2030 Strategy by bringing structure, momentum and clear accountability to an increasing portfolio of work.

You will define scope, develop project plans and schedules, coordinate resources, manage budgets and risks, and keep stakeholders informed through clear reporting and governance. You will also monitor quality, evaluate outcomes and ensure agreed deliverables are achieved on time, within budget and to the required standard.

Your projects will include managing business-led initiatives and event programs such as Capricorn’s biennial Convention, Captivate, Gala Dinner and Trade Shows, as well as other initiatives currently planned by this team. By providing dedicated oversight for this work, you will reduce delivery risk and enable the Project Sponsor and business stakeholders to proceed with confidence and trust, knowing that these critical business calendar events are in safe hands.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for an experienced project manager who can bring disciplined planning, practical governance and confident stakeholder coordination across varied business and technology initiatives.

What’s essential

  • At least five years’ experience planning, leading and managing project teams consisting of committed project resources and leveraged BAU/Operational staff to achieve project outcomes within project tolerances.
  • A strong application of project management disciplines to ensure that typical project controls including risk, issue, dependency, resource, change and budgets are effectively monitored, managed and maintained, with clear documentation and reporting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of systems and processes within a complex environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Sound knowledge of IT infrastructure, IT technologies
  • Practitioner level project management certification such as AgilePM, PRINCE2 or equivalent.

Highly regarded

  • Experience project managing or supporting the planning and management of major events, and documenting and delivering process and business systems improvements.
  • Experience working within an Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) where you will be expected to apply EPMO practices and contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the EPMO capability.

Qualifications

  • A suitable project management certification and/or relevant tertiary qualification is required. PRINCE2 certification is desirable.
