What you will do:
Architect, develop, and deploy back- and front-end Python applications, integrating our battery optimizer into Axpo's IT infrastructure
Enhance our mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) optimization engine, customizing it for battery projects across different countries and markets
Advise and support team members on software engineering best practices and design patterns
Collaborate with internal teams across Europe and align with external software providers to ensure seamless system integration
Serve as a point of contact for internal users of our optimization software, addressing questions and requests
Coordinate and implement software changes and updates to meet user needs
What you bring & who you are:
University degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, natural sciences, or a related discipline
You have 3+ years of experience in Python or another object-oriented language, ideally as a software engineer in the energy sector or a related field
Experience with backend development in distributed systems using REST APIs and message queues, e.g., FastAPI and Azure Service Bus
Familiarity with infrastructure as code to ship containerized software to the cloud – ideally Terraform, Azure, and Docker; experience with Google Cloud Platform is a plus
You're comfortable with modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, code reviews, and automated testing
Ideally, you bring experience with mathematical optimization (especially MILP), Databricks, frontend development, or SQL
