ABOUT THE TEAM
Our Payment Processing team owns the core of Unzer's platform โ the systems that authorise, capture and settle every merchant transaction, at high volume and under strict reliability and compliance demands. We're also building AI into both our tooling and our payment flows. The team is cross-functional and owns its services end to end; as Engineering Manager, you'll lead experienced engineers and work closely with Product, Risk and Operations.
Leads, mentors, and grows a team of engineers, owning hiring, performance management, and career development.
Takes accountability for the delivery, quality, and reliability of one or more product areas, balancing technical and business priorities.
Partners with product and other stakeholders to shape roadmaps, plan capacity, and ensure predictable delivery.
Drives continuous improvement of engineering practices, tooling, and processes, and removes blockers for the team.
Contributes to technical and architectural direction, ensuring sound decisions while empowering engineers to own the details.
Bachelor's orโฏMaster's degree in Computer Scienceโฏor similar, with substantial software engineering experience and prior people-management or tech-lead experience.
Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop engineers, and to build inclusive, motivated teams.
Strong technical grounding (e.g., Java, Kotlin, and/or JavaScript, large-scale systems) sufficient to guide architecture and challenge decisionsโwithout needing to be the hands-on expert.
Familiarity with Agentic Software Engineering and AI-driven development lifecycles, and how to adopt them within a team.
Deep understanding of Agile delivery, CI/CD, and quality practices, plus excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills across teams and functions.
Experience with cloud-based, containerized environments (Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS) is a plus.
Fluent in English, with excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
