- Own the strategy, performance, and cost of parcel, freight, and White Glove delivery networks.
- Lead carrier relationships, business reviews, negotiations, RFPs, and contract renewals.
- Set outbound cost and quality targets; monitor delivery, damage, transit-time, cost-per-order, and SLA metrics.
- Design and scale the delivery network, optimize middle-mile lanes, and onboard new carrier capabilities.
- Partner across Customer Experience, Packaging, Product, and operations to improve delivery standards and reduce damage.
- Build and coach the outbound logistics team, using reporting, TMS, AI, and automation to improve workflows.
🛠️ Requirements
- 10+ years of outbound logistics, transportation, or supply chain experience, including significant big-and-bulky home furnishings delivery experience.
- Experience building or managing a multi-market White Glove, final-mile delivery network.
- 4+ years of people leadership experience, including coaching and developing managers.
- Track record leading carrier RFPs, rate negotiations, and contract renewals to improve cost and service.
- Experience owning annual transportation budgets and accountability for cost and quality outcomes.
- Deep knowledge of parcel, LTL, middle-mile freight, final-mile economics, surcharge structures, dimensional pricing, and accessorial management.
- Advanced Excel and reporting or BI skills; able to build models and translate data into decisions.
- Strong communication and executive presentation skills; AI and automation experience, premium or DTC brand experience, and willingness to travel are also noted.

Full job description
The Thuma team is seeking a Director of Home Delivery to lead our White Glove delivery experience, outbound delivery network and carrier strategy across parcel and freight carriers. This role serves as the owner of Thuma's outbound logistics function, responsible for managing all outbound carrier relationships, negotiating best-in-market rates and service agreements, designing and scaling our delivery network, and ensuring every delivery reflects the quality and care customers expect from Thuma.
The ideal candidate combines deep outbound logistics expertise with strong commercial instincts and a genuine passion for the customer delivery experience. They are equally comfortable negotiating a national carrier agreement, building a cost-per-order model, redesigning a middle-mile lane network, and raising the bar on what an in-home delivery should feel like. They understand that for a premium furniture brand, delivery is the final, and often most memorable, expression of the customer experience..
This leader will manage a team and will partner closely with Distribution and Delivery leadership, Fulfillment Operations, Customer Experience, Finance, Retail, and Executive Leadership to reduce cost while elevating delivery quality. Thuma's Headquarters is based in the historic Presidio neighborhood of San Francisco.
