Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of Finance based in the United States.
This fully remote, full-time leadership role offers the opportunity to build and scale a finance function within a fast-growing, regulated fintech environment focused on stablecoin infrastructure and digital payments. You will oversee financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, and regulatory reporting, establishing the processes and controls needed to support sustainable growth. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will combine strategic financial leadership with hands-on execution across critical finance operations. You will guide forecasting, budgeting, and board reporting while strengthening accounting systems and transitioning toward a fully in-house, audit-ready function. You will also manage liquidity, reserve-related cash flows, and regulatory obligations across traditional banking and digital asset infrastructure. This role is ideal for an experienced finance leader who thrives in a collaborative, low-bureaucracy environment and enjoys building reliable systems, developing teams, and turning complex financial information into actionable business decisions.
Accountabilities:
-
Build, lead, and develop the finance function, maintaining hands-on ownership across financial planning and analysis (FP&A), accounting, treasury, and regulatory reporting as the business scales.
-
Own financial forecasting, budgeting, and board-level reporting, translating financial data into clear strategic insights for executive leadership, the board, and other stakeholders.
-
Oversee accounting operations, financial controls, and reporting processes, completing the transition from outsourced bookkeeping to a fully in-house accounting function.
-
Lead and continuously improve monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely, accurate, consistent, and audit-ready financial results.
-
Maintain robust accounting controls, supporting documentation, and financial reporting standards to ensure audit readiness and minimize control deficiencies.
-
Develop treasury strategy and oversee cash management, liquidity planning, and reserve-related rebalancing activities.
-
Monitor corporate funds and customer reserves across traditional banking relationships and on-chain payment infrastructure, improving visibility into fund flows, settlement timing, and liquidity requirements.
-
Own regulatory and compliance reporting for reserve programs, including quarterly call reports and monthly filings, in close collaboration with Compliance.
-
Establish documented procedures, clear ownership, and backup coverage for treasury execution and regulatory reporting, reducing single-person dependencies across critical functions.
-
Balance yield optimization with operational cash and liquidity requirements while maintaining appropriate controls and ensuring funds are available when needed.
-
Partner with the CEO, COO, Compliance, Risk, Product, and Engineering to improve financial operations, strengthen risk management, and automate processes where appropriate.
-
Evaluate and implement finance systems, reporting tools, and AI-assisted workflows to improve efficiency, data quality, and scalability.
-
Establish predictable operating rhythms, clear accountability, and effective communication practices across the finance team.
-
Present financial performance, forecasts, risks, and strategic recommendations directly to executives, board members, and investors.
-
Within the first six months, establish a dependable forecasting and reporting cadence, deliver a reliable monthly close, complete the transition to in-house accounting, and ensure treasury and regulatory reporting processes have documented procedures and tested backup coverage.
-
At least 8 years of progressive finance experience, including direct, hands-on ownership of both FP&A and accounting responsibilities.
-
Demonstrated ability to build, improve, and scale a finance function rather than simply oversee an established department.
-
Strong expertise in financial forecasting, budgeting, financial analysis, and executive reporting, with the ability to turn complex numbers into clear recommendations that support strategic decisions.
-
Hands-on experience managing accounting operations, financial controls, and monthly close processes, including the ability to establish an audit-ready accounting function. A CPA is not required.
-
Experience managing treasury operations or cash and liquidity across multiple banking relationships, financial platforms, or trading systems.
-
Strong understanding of financial controls, liquidity planning, settlement processes, and the operational requirements of managing corporate funds and customer reserves.
-
Proven ability to build and develop high-performing finance teams, establish accountability, coach team members, and implement scalable processes.
-
Experience presenting financial results, forecasts, and strategic insights directly to executive leadership, boards, and investors.
-
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment when balancing financial performance, operational liquidity, compliance, and risk.
-
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, including the ability to work closely with executive leadership, Compliance, Risk, Product, and Engineering.
-
Comfort working in a remote, fast-moving, low-bureaucracy environment with an emphasis on written updates, asynchronous communication, and direct collaboration.
-
Familiarity with modern finance systems, accounting platforms, documentation tools, and AI-powered productivity tools, with an interest in applying automation to finance operations.
-
Experience managing complex payment flows involving corporate and customer funds, including timing, sequencing, settlement, and multiple payment rails, is a plus.
-
Exposure to digital asset or stablecoin operations, including wallets, exchanges, custodians, USDC, USDT, reserve reconciliation, or fair-value accounting, is highly desirable.
-
A CPA designation or MBA is an advantage but not mandatory.
-
Fully remote, full-time employment within the United States.
-
A senior leadership opportunity to build and shape the finance function of a growing fintech business operating in a regulated environment.
-
Direct collaboration with experienced executive leaders and the opportunity to influence financial strategy and company-wide decision-making.
-
Broad ownership across FP&A, accounting, treasury, liquidity management, and regulatory reporting.
-
The opportunity to develop scalable financial processes, implement automation, and establish best practices as the business grows.
-
A fast-moving, collaborative, low-bureaucracy work environment with an emphasis on accountability, autonomy, and low-ego teamwork.
-
Regular in-person team offsites combined with remote work and asynchronous communication.
-
Exposure to stablecoin infrastructure, digital assets, modern payment systems, and evolving financial technology.
-
Opportunities to introduce AI-powered tools and improve the efficiency of finance operations.
