Product ManagementSolutions EngineeringEnterprise SecurityCustomer Discovery

📜 Description

  • Architect the field motion for assigned product launches, designing demo processes and structuring POVs.
  • Conduct customer discovery and validate approaches through deep dives and POVs.
  • Test and refine messaging hypotheses in live deals with Sales Engineers.
  • Brief PM with pattern analysis, distinguishing product gaps from positioning or sales-motion issues.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to stress-test messaging and report on effectiveness.
  • Document successes and challenges at General Availability to facilitate independent field operations.

🛠️ Requirements

  • 5+ years in Product Management or Solutions/Sales Engineering in enterprise security.
  • Experience working in a pre-launch or early-stage product environment before a playbook existed, with a specific program, motion, or deliverable built from scratch to show for it.
  • Credibility that speaks through work and presence, and the instinct to move toward problems before they're assigned.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; credible in front of technical buyers and security teams, equally comfortable in a live customer conversation and an internal roadmap review.
  • High operational excellence and ownership: you've taken a field observation from raw signal to a documented recommendation that a PM or GTM team acted on.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the capacity to reason through ambiguous problems and move to a working hypothesis without waiting for the full picture.
  • Prior involvement in new product launches, design partnerships, early-access, and/or beta programs.
  • Experience running or presenting in structured cross-functional forums (POV reviews, launch/GTM syncs).
  • Familiarity with enterprise security platforms such as CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler, Wiz, Microsoft, or similar.
  • Comfort using AI tools to synthesize patterns across large sets of qualitative input (support tickets, call transcripts, win/loss notes).
Full job description

About the Role

Abnormal AI is seeking a Product Manager (Outbound) who builds the field motion from the ground up for every new product launched. There is no universal playbook, no inherited demo flow, and no proven messaging to hand off. Each new product requires its own: this person architects it, validates it in close partnership with the field, and hands off a repeatable motion the field can run at scale before moving to the next product launch.

Outbound Product Management (OPM) is R&D's operating layer in the field, the function that sits between what we build and how it performs with customers. That means being first in on a new product, before anyone has figured out how to sell or demo it, running structured validation across customer accounts, and distinguishing a product gap from a positioning or sales-motion gap. You'll work in close partnership with Product Management and Product Marketing—OPM owns the field motion, not the roadmap, but the pattern analysis and positioning work you bring back is what keeps both teams calibrated to what's actually happening with customers.

This is not a feedback-intake role. You'll be operating on products that don't have established answers yet — the messaging is still being proven, the competitive positioning is still being tested, and the product itself may still be taking shape. You'll know when a read is solid enough to bring back to the cross-functional team versus when it needs more digging, and you'll drive the motion forward without waiting for someone to hand you a map.

What You'll Do

  • Architect the field motion for an assigned product launch: design how the product gets demoed, how a POV gets structured, and what the field needs to run it at scale — then get hands-on with customer discovery, deep dives, and POVs to validate the approach.
  • Test and refine messaging hypotheses in live deals alongside Sales Engineers, and diagnose competitive loss reasons.
  • Brief PM with pattern analysis across accounts, distinguishing a product gap from a positioning or sales-motion problem.
  • Partner with Product Marketing as a standing collaborator, stress-testing messaging in live deals and reporting what's landing versus what needs to change.
  • Own the handoff at General Availability: document what worked, what broke, and what the field needs to run the motion independently — then move to the next product and do it again.

Must-Have Skills

  • 5+ years in Product Management or Solutions/Sales Engineering in enterprise security.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently synthesize unfamiliar products quickly — given a new product and limited context, you can identify what matters, form a hypothesis, and start building the field motion: how the product gets demoed, how a POV gets structured, and what the field needs to run it at scale.

Nice to Have

  • Prior involvement in new product launches, design partnerships, early-access, and/or beta programs.
  • Experience running or presenting in structured cross-functional forums (POV reviews, launch/GTM syncs).
  • Familiarity with enterprise security platforms such as CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler, Wiz, Microsoft, or similar.
  • Comfort using AI tools to synthesize patterns across large sets of qualitative input (support tickets, call transcripts, win/loss notes).
  • Prior startup experience.

Why This Role Matters

This role is a career inflection point. It’s a senior seat with real organizational weight that will set a new standard for the team around you. The people who thrive here carry credibility on arrival—they've been in enough high-stakes customer and cross-functional environments that they don't need to win the room before the work begins. If you come from a product management background, this is where you build the GTM fluency that traditional PM roles don't give you, and that fluency is increasingly what separates good product people from exceptional ones. If you come from a solutions engineering background, this is where technical credibility becomes strategic ownership. Either way, you'll be at the frontier of what we're building, working on products that don't have all the answers yet, shaping the motion before anyone else has, and coming out the other side with a profile that's genuinely hard to replicate elsewhere. The launches you'll be working on aren't side bets—they're the company's biggest bets for our next phase of growth, and this role is at the center of bringing them to market.
