For one of our valued clients in Amsterdam, we are looking for a Cryptography Security Specialist to join a newly formed team focused on defining and overseeing the organization's cryptographic strategy, with a clear roadmap toward post-quantum readiness.
In this role, you will help shape cryptographic policies and risk frameworks across the enterprise. You won’t be implementing algorithms yourself, instead, you’ll assess, advise, and validate cryptographic choices and act as a sparring partner for technical teams, security leadership, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement an organization-wide cryptographic strategy, aligned with current and emerging risks
Define policies, guidelines, and standards for cryptography across multiple domains and teams
Advise on key management, crypto lifecycle, and governance
Guide the organization in its preparation for post-quantum cryptography, including scenario planning and impact assessments
Review and assess cryptographic implementations created by internal security engineers
Translate regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO, NIST, ETSI) into actionable practices
Act as a subject matter expert for both internal stakeholders and external partners
Requirements
8+ years of experience in information security or cryptography-relateddomains.
Proven knowledge of cryptographic protocols, algorithms, and key management systems
Experience developing and implementing cryptographic policies, governance models, and life cycle frameworks
Solid understanding of strategic risk management, including compliance with standards like ISO 27001, NIST, or ETSI
Awareness of post-quantum cryptography trends and transition challenges
Strong communication skills — able to advise both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience conducting assessments or audits of cryptographic implementations
Certifications (preferred): CISSP, CISM, CRISC, GIAC Cryptographic Technology (GCT), GIAC CertifiedCryptographer (GCC), ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer or Auditor
Language skills: Proficiency in English at B2 level or higher, both spoken and written
