Secondary Computing & Digital Subject Specialist

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

STEM Learning has established a strong position in digital education through the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) and our wider work in computing, artificial intelligence and digital technologies. We are looking for an exceptional Computing & Digital Specialist to help drive our vision forward, bringing specialist expertise to shape high-quality professional learning, respond to emerging developments and influence the future of computing and digital education. Working across NCCE and wider STEM Learning programmes, you will play a key role in growing the reach, quality and impact of our offer and ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of teachers, education professionals and learners.

The Role

This role provides specialist expertise in secondary and post-16 computing and digital education across STEM Learning, contributing to the organisation’s strategic direction, programme development and wider educational impact. Working across the National Centre for Computing Education and other STEM Learning programmes, the role connects subject expertise, educational research, sector intelligence and emerging developments in technology to the design and delivery of high-quality professional learning.

The role contributes to the overall success of STEM Learning by ensuring that its computing and digital education provision is evidence-informed, innovative, responsive to curriculum and policy change, and aligned with the needs of education professionals and learners. Through collaboration with internal teams and external partners, the postholder will strengthen STEM Learning’s expertise, reach and influence, identify opportunities for growth and improvement, and help position the organisation as a leading voice in computing, artificial intelligence and digital education.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience/Competencies we are looking for include:

  • Significant professional experience in secondary and/or post-16 computing and digital education, with a strong understanding of curriculum, qualifications, pedagogy and current developments in the subject.
  • A relevant degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience in computing, education or a related discipline.
  • Experience of designing, developing and delivering professional learning for teachers and/or other education professionals.
  • Experience of developing evidence-informed educational resources and professional learning, with the ability to translate research and evidence into effective practice.
  • Experience of building and managing effective partnerships with a range of stakeholders, including external organisations and delivery partners.
  • Experience of managing complex projects, competing priorities and deadlines, ideally within large-scale or national programmes.
