About the role
You'll own manual and exploratory quality coverage for card and payment backend systems — validating transaction flows, back-office processes, and integrations across a REST-based microservice architecture.
What you'll do
Work on backend services supporting card operations and payment flows: authorizations, captures, reversals, refunds, and chargebacks.
Validate transaction data across REST APIs, PostgreSQL, and Kafka — including event contracts, stored data, and operational workflows.
Collaborate with developers, analysts, and product managers to investigate defects and improve test coverage as the platform scales.
What you'll own
Test backend services and validate end-to-end transaction flows, including authorization, hold, capture, reversal, and refund scenarios.
Verify back-office processes: reconciliation, corrections, and operational workflows.
Execute regression testing during releases, infrastructure changes, and platform migrations.
Create and maintain test cases, checklists, and test documentation.
Analyze defects, document findings, and drive resolution with engineering and product teams.
Collect and track QA metrics to improve testing effectiveness and product quality.
Contribute to API-level automation of transaction flow testing as coverage expands.
What makes you a strong fit
Experience testing backend systems and REST APIs.
Confident use of Postman or similar API testing tools.
Experience with PostgreSQL — writing queries and validating stored data.
Experience with Kafka — event validation, topic analysis, and contract verification.
Understanding of card processing and payment flows: authorization, hold, capture, reversal, chargeback.
Ability to read code in Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, or similar languages.
Strong grasp of software testing principles, defect investigation, and test design techniques.
Own end-to-end quality for a new.NET product, establishing QA strategy and standards while building automation, testing APIs and workflows, and guiding release readiness.
Leads manual and automated testing, developing test plans and scripts, coordinating test events, managing defects and test artifacts, and driving software quality across development teams.
Own test strategy, automation, and release quality for native iOS and Android apps and a web portal, ensuring reliable user experiences through comprehensive testing, CI/CD quality gates, and production issue investigation.
Own quality engineering for a Workforce Management and Customer Experience platform by building automation across the test pyramid, validating microservices and scheduling workflows, and improving quality practices across the development.
