House Manager & Family Assistant
The House Manager & Family Assistant will support a busy family by managing household tasks, meal preparation, and providing assistance with childcare and family routines.
Job Title: Part-time House Manager & Family Assistant
Location: Austin, TX (Austin Lake Hills 78733)
Employment Type: Part-time, 15-20 hours per week
Schedule: Flexible schedule, 3 days per week. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday preferred with flexibility for the right candidate
Compensation: $28-32 per hour, based on experience
Start Date: ASAP
We are a warm, active family of four in the Austin Lake Hills area, with two young children (2.5 years and 2 months) and two working parents. Our household is navigating a season of transition following the arrival of our new baby and one parent returning to an in-office role four days a week after several years of working from home. The other parent continues to work from home as the CEO and founder of a tech company, but the demands of both work and parenting a newborn make managing the household while on-site challenging.
We value and respect the amazing village we have, which includes family and an amazing nanny, but are ready to add a trusted team member that can help us carry the mental and logistical load. We believe in building long-term relationships with our household staff and want everyone who works with us to enjoy their role.
Our days are full and lively, and we often feel like we’re spending our energy on laundry, meals, and household tasks when what we really want is to focus on our kids. We’ve been dreaming of having extra support—someone who can take the day-to-day household responsibilities off our plates so we can spend more time enjoying family moments together. We love a home that feels organized, smooth-running, and calm, and we’re excited to welcome someone who can bring thoughtful ideas and a sense of ease to our daily rhythm.
You are responsible and trustworthy person with excellent common sense. You can read the temperature of a home and know when to give space while still staying on top of your tasks. You are efficient and focused on getting the job done rather than needing frequent check-ins or asking many questions. You make independent decisions and figure things out as you go.
You communicate clearly and value working with a family that does the same. You are confident and can work autonomously, ready to hit the ground running with purpose. You are comfortable with flexibility and knowing that as our family’s needs evolve, so will this role.
You enjoy working in a home with other household employees, and will collaborate well with our nanny. You also enjoy working with toddlers and infants, and should have some experience to build on to provide backup care when our nanny is unavailable.
If you fit this description and are looking to build a long-term relationship with a great family in your next role, we’d love to hear from you!
