Full job description

The Vice President of Product Marketing will own the go-to-market narrative for Rackspace's product portfolio, including the platform capabilities such as GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS), Inference-as-a-Service (IaaS), and the company's broader AI product line. This leader will translate deep technology partnerships and capabilities, including Palantir, Uniphore, AMD, and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), into clear category language, customer-ready collateral, and competitive positioning that sales, partners, and customers can act on. The VP will work closely with Engineering and Product leadership to stay ahead of the roadmap, with Sales and Field Marketing to ensure messaging lands in-market, and with Brand and Corporate Communications to build Rackspace's external voice in the AI infrastructure category.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Product & Category Positioning

  • Own the market narrative for Rackspace's platform, GPUaaS, Inference-as-a-Service, and AI product lines, translating technical capability into a clear, differentiated category story.
  • Turn deep technology partnerships, including Palantir, Uniphore, AMD, and VCF, into positioning and messaging that customers and partners can understand and act on.
  • Partner directly with Engineering and Product leadership to stay ahead of the roadmap and ensure messaging evolves alongside what is actually being built.
  • Define how Rackspace's AI and infrastructure products are positioned relative to hyperscalers and specialized GPU cloud providers in the market.

Competitive Intelligence & Sales Enablement

  • Build and maintain competitive positioning materials and battle cards, keeping sales equipped with current, accurate points of differentiation.
  • Develop persona-based sales collateral, including decks, one-pagers, and case studies, tailored to the buyers for GPUaaS, Inference-as-a-Service, and platform products.
  • Continuously track the competitive landscape in AI infrastructure and cloud, translating market shifts into updated messaging and enablement.

Launch & GTM Execution

  • Lead go-to-market planning and execution for new product launches and major partner announcements across the AI and platform portfolio.
  • Partner with Field Marketing and Demand Generation to ensure new product messaging flows into regional programs, campaigns, and pipeline generation efforts.
  • Create segment-focused materials and campaigns for priority segments, tailoring positioning, content, and proof points to each segment's specific buying criteria.
  • Define launch success metrics and track adoption of new messaging and positioning across sales and marketing channels.

Thought Leadership & External Voice

  • Represent Rackspace's product and technology story with press, analysts, and industry events, building the company's external voice in the AI infrastructure category.
  • Develop executive-ready content, including keynote materials, briefing documents, and bylines, that position Rackspace leadership as credible voices in AI and cloud infrastructure.
  • Partner with Brand and Corporate Communications to keep external messaging consistent across every channel and audience.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Build and lead a product marketing team capable of covering the full portfolio, from core platform capabilities to emerging AI products.
  • Partner with Field Marketing, Brand, and Sales leadership to ensure product narrative is consistent everywhere it shows up in-market.
  • Represent product marketing in leadership and product planning reviews, providing visibility into market feedback and competitive dynamics.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Product Marketing & Technical Expertise

  • 15+ years of product marketing or technical marketing experience, with a strong background in cloud computing, AI/ML, or high-performance infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical capabilities and partner ecosystems into clear, differentiated market narrative and customer-facing content.
  • Direct experience building competitive positioning, battle cards, and sales enablement programs in a fast- moving technical market.
  • Track record leading go-to-market for major product launches, ideally in GPU compute, AI infrastructure, or cloud platforms.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to produce everything from technical positioning docs to executive keynote content.
  • Familiarity with GPU-as-a-Service, Inference-as-a-Service, or comparable AI infrastructure business models preferred.
  • Experience building customer reference and advocacy programs, and developing segment-specific marketing strategies for priority verticals such as Healthcare and Financial Services.

Leadership Profile

  • Experience building and leading a product marketing team supporting a multi-product portfolio.
  • Comfort operating as a public-facing voice for the company, including with press, analysts, and at industry events.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Sales, Field Marketing, Brand, and Corporate Communications leadership.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • MBA preferred.
