Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a GCP Architect based in Canada.
In this high-impact remote contract role, you will lead the end-to-end architecture for a mission-critical healthcare data platform modernization initiative on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Working in a collaborative IT solutions environment, you will drive the transition from legacy systems to a cloud-native target state utilizing Cloud Healthcare API, FHIR, and advanced BigQuery analytics capabilities. Your architectural leadership will power secure clinical data ingestion, processing, and seamless API integration for EMRs, government agencies, healthcare partners, and patient-facing applications. From multi-project Terraform infrastructure as code and perimeter security to disaster recovery and hybrid connectivity, you will own the entire technical ecosystem. This position offers a unique opportunity for a certified cloud architect to solve complex data interoperability challenges and deliver scalable, secure solutions that directly enhance healthcare data accessibility and patient outcomes.
Accountabilities:
-
Architecture & Strategy Leadership: Lead technical architecture workshops with key client and partner stakeholders, designing current-state to target-state migration roadmaps and end-to-end GCP solution documentation.
-
Data Pipeline & Processing Design: Architect scalable healthcare data ingestion and processing workflows using Dataflow, Cloud Healthcare API/FHIR, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Firestore, and Memorystore/Redis.
-
Analytics & Orchestration Ecosystem: Design robust analytics architectures using BigQuery and Google Cloud Storage (GCS), defining orchestration pipelines via Cloud Composer/Airflow and Artifact Registry.
-
Security & Hybrid Connectivity: Establish zero-trust security patterns using IAM, Secret Manager, Cloud KMS, Private Service Connect, and Cloud Interconnect for secure hybrid and B2B connectivity.
-
API Integration & Resilience: Architect enterprise API integrations using IBM APIC or Apigee, while defining multi-region backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability resilience strategies.
-
Team Mentorship & Alignment: Provide technical guidance and hands-on architecture leadership to engineering, observability, and security teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
-
Cloud Architectural Expertise: Extensive, hands-on experience designing end-to-end enterprise architectures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
-
Mandatory Certification: Active Google Professional Cloud Architect certification is strictly required.
-
GCP Data & Compute Stack: Deep proficiency in BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Run, Cloud Composer, GCS, Cloud SQL, Firestore, and Memorystore/Redis.
-
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & DevOps: Strong experience using Terraform for multi-project GCP provisioning (VPC, IAM, Interconnect, org policies) alongside CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI) and GitOps principles.
-
Security & API Management: Solid knowledge of GCP perimeter security, KMS, IAM, hybrid identity integration, and API management platforms (IBM APIC or Apigee).
-
Communication & Workshop Facilitation: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with proven success facilitating complex architectural workshops.
-
Preferred Experience: Knowledge of Cloud Healthcare API (FHIR R4, HL7v2), healthcare data governance/PHI, GKE, Dataplex, Pub/Sub, and observability tools (Dynatrace, Splunk, Wiz).
-
100% Remote Flexibility: Complete location independence.
-
Competitive Contract Compensation: Highly attractive contract rate matching your enterprise architectural expertise.
-
High-Impact Healthcare Modernization: Key architectural role in transforming critical digital health infrastructure and data analytics platforms.
-
Cutting-Edge Tech Stack: Hands-on exposure to advanced cloud data pipelines, FHIR APIs, AI-ready analytics, and modern IaC toolsets.
-
Collaborative Environment: Engage with top-tier technology leaders, engineers, and healthcare domain specialists across global delivery networks.
