Defendify is looking for a proven Vice President of Finance to lead the company's finance and accounting function, with strong, hands on controllership at the center of the role.
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure Defendify's books, financial statements, cash position, and daily financial operations are accurate, timely, disciplined, and ready to support continued growth. You will directly oversee the general ledger, monthly close, account reconciliations, revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, collections, payroll coordination, cash management, and internal controls.
You will also lead budgeting, forecasting, cash and runway planning, variance analysis, and the SaaS and operating metrics that help leadership understand performance and make informed decisions.
The role extends beyond controllership and planning. You will prepare financial analysis and narratives for leadership and Board presentations, partner with business leaders on vendor and commercial negotiations, coordinate commercial contract reviews with Defendify's corporate attorney, and support equity fundraising, debt financing, lender relationships, and financial diligence as needed.

This is a Portland, Maine based role. Defendify is a hybrid company, but this position is expected to work primarily from our headquarters on Commercial Street and collaborate closely in person with the CEO and leadership team. Our office is on the top floor of a building in the heart of Portland's Old Port, overlooking Casco Bay. For someone who values in person collaboration, it is an exceptional place to work, build, and help guide the company.
This is not a role for someone who wants to operate only at the strategic level or only within FP&A.
We are looking for a hands on finance leader who can move comfortably from the general ledger, monthly close, cash management, and contract reviews to forecasts, leadership decisions, Board presentations, and financing diligence.
