Full job description
As Financial Markets Analyst, South Africa, you’ll create clear, accurate and engaging content about financial markets for a South African audience. You’ll explain market movements, macroeconomic events and product concepts in a way that retail clients, media partners and internal stakeholders can easily understand.
The role combines market analysis, writing and education. You’ll work closely with the Brand, Communications, Marketing, Commercial, Legal and Compliance teams to make sure everything we publish is accurate, balanced, client-centric and appropriate for a regulated financial services environment.
This is a content, education and market-commentary role. It doesn’t involve giving advice, managing portfolios, dealing or making trade recommendations, and all content must stay in line with Capital.com’s execution-only, non-advisory model.
Capital.com South Africa is an Authorised Financial Services Provider and an FSCA-approved Over-the-Counter Derivative Provider.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and contribute to written content for publication, including market updates, educational articles, explainers, and website content.
• Create educational content that helps clients understand financial markets, CFDs, leverage, margin, risk management concepts and platform/product mechanics.
• Work with Compliance to ensure market commentary and educational content meet applicable regulatory, financial-promotion and brand standards.
• Monitor market news, economic calendars and relevant local/international developments to identify timely content opportunities.
• Collaborate with central content, brand and communications teams to adapt global market themes for the South African audience.
• Maintain a consistent tone of voice: clear, balanced, factual, risk-aware and suitable for a regulated, execution-only business.
Requirements:
• 3-5 years' experience in financial markets content, brokerage education, market research, fintech, trading education or a related financial-services environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Investment Management, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of financial markets, including FX, indices, equities, commodities, macroeconomic data, market sentiment and derivative products such as CFDs.
• Excellent writing ability, with experience producing clear and publishable financial markets content for external audiences.
• Good judgement in distinguishing general market commentary and education from advice, recommendations, trading signals or personalised guidance.
• Comfortable supporting media-facing activity, including preparation for seminars, webinars, podcasts, video content or written Q&A.
• Fluent in English.
Advantageous:
• SAIFM / RPE modules, particularly Introduction to Financial Markets, Regulation and Ethics, or Derivatives.
• RE5 regulatory exam.
• Additional South African language skills would be beneficial but are not essential.
Local market knowledge:
• Understanding of the South African financial-services landscape, retail investor behaviour and local media environment.
• Awareness of FSCA expectations for financial promotions, fair client communication and conduct risk in financial-services marketing/content.
